Folias Duo Music Slated for April 23

Folias Duo Music will play at the Hackley Library noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23.

Enjoy the regional favorite flute and guitar duo, Folias Duo, as they join with vocalist Olivia Vargas to share their love of music, poetry, and Earth Day with a selection of original songs and poems to celebrate the natural beauty of the earth.

Registration for this free event  is required, as seating is limited.

Library to Host Author Tim Mulherin on April 26

Join Tim Mulherin, author of “Sand, Stars, Wind, & Water: Field Notes,” as he discusses his nonfiction essays and stories focusing on identity, place, and belonging; an enduring best friendship; and increasing interest in and pressure on Michigan from visitors and how to respect this national treasure and people who call it home. Books will be available for purchase.

The event is set  6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, North Muskegon Branch of the Muskegon Area District Library.

Symphony to Host Cellist Sujari Britt on May 13

The West Michigan Symphony will host cellist Sujari Britt  at 7:30 p.m., Friday May 13, in the Frauenthal Theater, with Scott Speck as conductor. Pieces include: Price Dances in the Canebrakes; Saint-Saëns,  Cello Concerto no.1; and Still, Symphony No.1, “Afro-American.” Tickets: start at $19; students $10.
