Julia Owdziej announces candidacy for judge

Julia Owdziej has announced her candidacy for Washtenaw County Probate Court Judge.


Owdziej (pronounced owd-zi) began working for Washtenaw County in 1991. She served as an assistant prosecuting attorney and probate register and has spent the last 14 years as a Juvenile Court referee. She is also the judicial officer for the Juvenile Drug Court, a program for teenagers who are suffering from drug or alcohol abuse, and for their families.
Owdziej is active in youth programs in the county, including 4H. She and her husband, John Owdziej, have a 17-year-old daughter.  
Owdziej is seeking the seat that will be left vacant by the retirement of Probate Judge Nancy Wheeler.
 
 The primary election in August of 2014 will be followed by the general election in November.
