Lawrence Jordan named a 2017 'Lawyer of the Year'

Best Lawyers, the oldest and most recognized peer review guide to the legal profession worldwide, has recognized Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss managing partner Lawrence R. Jordan as a 2017 Lawyer of the Year. Jaffe CEO William Sider made the announcement.

Best Lawyers ensures credibility of results by conducting an extensive peer-review survey, in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. Lawyer of the Year recognitions are awarded to individual attorneys with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic location. Only one lawyer is recognized as a Lawyer of the Year for each specialty and location.

Jordan is a 2017 Lawyer of the Year for copyright law in Ann Arbor. His past Lawyer of the Year awards include litigation—intellectual property for 2011, 2014 and 2015, as well as copyright law and trademark law for 2011.
Jordan has been featured as a Best Lawyer for the past 12 years. This year he was recognized for his work in copyright law, entertainment law—motion pictures and television, litigation—intellectual property, technology law and trademark law.

As managing partner of Jaffe’s Ann Arbor office and coordinator of the firm’s intellectual property practice group, Jordan has over 39 years of experience representing companies, foundations and creative individuals in a broad range of intellectual property matters. This includes trademark and copyrights, and counseling on strategies to protect and commercialize inventions, creations and ideas.

Jordan earned his Bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Michigan; he also attended the Université de Paris, and is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School, where he received the Bureau of National Affairs Award for graduating seniors.
