Swearing In

Nicole A. Hughes has been appointed to the position of Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, joining the team led by Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney Brian L. Mackie, with Chief Assistant Prosecutor Steven Hiller. Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Carol Kuhnke administered the oath of office on Oct. 3. Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Western University in London, Ontario, and earned her law degree, summa cum laude, in 2013 from Cooley Law School, graduating first in her class. She also holds an LLM from Cooley in criminal advocacy. While in law school, she completed an internship with the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office. After graduating from Cooley, Hughes was the law clerk for Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain, and most recently worked for the Lansing law firm of Alane & Chartier.
