Recognizing that people who care about animal welfare would prefer hiring attorneys who share their values, Attorneys for Animals (AFA) has developed Animal Friendly Attorneys™, a designation program that provides the animal-conscious public with easy access to information about attorneys in Michigan who practice in many areas of the law.
These inductees have demonstrated a commitment to advancing animal protection in their professional and personal lives and pledged to support Attorneys for Animals’ mission and to not knowingly take any action in their practice to harm animals.
They are: Mary Chartier, East Lansing; Danielle Nicole Dawson, Grand Rapids; Celeste M. Dunn, Clarkston; LeeAnn M. Ford, Auburn Hills; John P. Guenther, Bloomfield Hills; Erin Klug, Novi; Nadine Koppin, Bingham Farms; Ginny K. Mikita, Rockford; Tricia Smith, Dowagiac; Justin J. Sterk, Grand Rapids; Kelly A. Todd, Louisville, KY; and Rebecca Kristen Wrock, Farmington Hills.
These attorneys practice in the following areas: Animal Law, Business/Corporate, Civil Litigation, Criminal, Employment & Labor, Estate Planning, Family Law, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Medical Malpractice, Municipal/Government, Personal Injury and Real Estate.
“A growing number of people want their consumer choices to reflect their values,” says Bee Friedlander, AFA board president. “We are extending this idea to the legal services arena, and not just for animal law-related matters. These Animal Friendly Attorneys have expertise in areas from family law to intellectual property.”
The designation is believed to be the first of its kind, according to Friedlander. All selected attorneys will be allowed to display a specially designed logo on their materials, and those attesting to a vegan or vegetarian diet will be recognized with a distinct variation of the logo.
