Workshops set for those interested in rec grants

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced that that it will hold eight recreation grant workshops across the state for communities that are interested in learning about how to apply for grants to acquire, develop or improve park facilities. Participants will learn about how to apply for grants from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund program, the Land and Water Conservation Fund program, and the Recreation Passport Grant program. Grant workshops will be held in January and February of 2012 in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Chesterfield Township, Marquette, Newberry, Gaylord and Dearborn. The workshops are free, open to the public, and reservations are not necessary. Eligible applicants for these grants are local units of government, including cities, villages, townships, counties or any combination of these entities which authority is legally constituted to provide public recreation. Applications for these programs are due on April 2, 2012.
