What is your most treasured material possession? Family photos (everything else is replaceable.)
What advice do you have for someone considering law school? It’s a tough market for attorneys at the current time. You need to work twice as hard as other attorneys if you want to be successful.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you be? Physician.
Favorite local hangouts: Home, golf courses, and with friends and family.
Your proudest moment(s) as a lawyer? Every time a client is happy with my service and/or the outcome of a case or issue.
What is your happiest childhood memory? Playing sports.
Which things do you not like to do? Rake leaves.
What would surprise people about your job? The very fun atmosphere at our office. I think most people feel that a law office would be a “stuffy” place to work. We (Eric White, Ken Hotchkiss, our staff, and I) try to keep it fun. You should never take your job too seriously.
What do you wish you had invented? A cure for cancer.
What’s the most awe-inspiring place you have visited? Palace of Versailles, France
What’s your greatest achievement? Being a good husband and father (I hope my wife would agree!)
If you could have one super power, what would it be? To fly.
What would you say to your 16-year-old self? Drive safely!
What one thing do you wish people knew about your work? How rewarding it is when you have happy clients.
Favorite joke: Most of my favorite jokes would be inappropriate to publish in The Legal News.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? The extreme disparity in individual incomes in this country. I think we would be a stronger, healthier nation as a whole if there was a smaller gap between the ultra rich and ultra poor.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you be? A physician.
Must-see TV: West Virginia Mountaineer football and basketball. And other sports, in general.
What’s your favorite animal? Our (deceased) dogs, Pudge (a rottweiler) and Maggs (a pug/beagle mix).
What’s your biggest regret? Thankfully, I really don’t have one. I feel blessed with where I am in life.
What word do you overuse? “No.” (It’s easy to overuse that word with a two-year-old son at home.)
First gig: Paper boy.
What’s one thing you would like to learn to do? Fly a plane.
What is something most people don't know about you? I recently took up kayaking and really enjoy it.
If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Bill Gates, Mike Ilitch, and my grandfather, Charles Falahee, Sr.
Favorite movie: “The Shawshank Redemption.”
What place won’t you return if you can help it? The bar exam.
What do you drive? What would you drive if money were no object? I drive a 2012 Nissan Maxima. If money were no object, then I may drive a Bentley.
Favorite law-related movie: “Liar, Liar” with Jim Carrey.
Favorite place to spend money: Golf course, snow skiing, or traveling.
What is your motto? If you want to be successful, you need to work hard and treat people right.”
Where would you like to be when you're 90? Retired, somewhere warm, with family.
