Legal Services of South Central Michigan receives $13,440 grantfrom Jackson Community Foundation

Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) has received a $13,440 grant from Jackson Community Foundation to support services for survivors of domestic violence in Jackson County.

LSSCM is a non-profit legal aid organization providing free legal advice and representation in civil cases to low-income individuals and families with a focus on domestic violence prevention. In 2015, LSSCM assisted 303 low-income individuals where domestic violence was present in the home in protection order, divorce, custody, housing, and other related cases. Survivors of domestic violence face enormous legal and safety hurdles and these hurdles can be insurmountable without legal assistance. With the help of Jackson Community Foundation, LSSCM is better able to help survivors of domestic violence reach their goals.

"We are honored and grateful that the Jackson Community Foundation supports our work on behalf of survivors of domestic violence," said Erica Zimny, Managing Attorney of LSSCM's Jackson office. "In 2017, we are particularly excited about implementing new collaborative clinics to reach more survivors and get them the legal advice and support that they need."

LSSCM's Jackson office serves Jackson and Hillsdale Counties. For more information about LSSCM, visit www.lsscm.org. LSSCM is a program of Michigan Advocacy Program, www.miadvocacy.org.
