Wendell Early Jacobs, Jr. (Jake)
Jackson attorney Wendell Early Jacobs, Jr. (Jake) died April 29 at the age of 74.
After graduating as a 1st Lieutenant from Military School at Culver Academy in Indiana, Jacobs earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Denison University in Ohio, then earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School.
After graduation, he clerked for Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Sam Hughes, before joining the Jackson County Prosecutor's office. A couple of years later, he launched the Jackson firm of Jacobs & Engle PC with Jerry Engle.
Jacobs was a member of the bar associations in Michigan and Florida and represented thousands of clients.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed landscaping, golfing, bowling, playing cards and hanging out with friends at the Grotto Club in Jackson. He also loved motorcycles and fast cars, especially his Shelby Mustang GT350.
Jacobs is survived by his wife, Christine Taylor; sisters, Karen Salswedel (Bob McNaughton), Jill Meadows (David), and Jan Mateskon (Steve); sons Damon Rex Jacobs, Wendell Early Jacobs III (Larissa) and grandchildren Murilo Cohen and Julieta Jacobs.
A celebration of life will be scheduled later.
