On May 6, the Jackson Area Association of REALTORS® held their Annual Awards Reception at Veritas in Jackson.
REALTOR® of the Year is Laura Dwyer Schlecte of Thinking Real Estate. She has attended several MR and NAR Conventions throughout the years, and has been a member since 1993. She has served on or chaired the Governmental Affairs Committee, Professional Standards Committee, Equal Opportunity Committee, Community Involvement Committee, Placemaking Task Force, Orientation Committee, and the Green Task Force. In 2020, she was awarded the JAAR 2020 REALTOR® Active in Politics Award and currently serves on Jackson City Council, along with an extraordinary amount of community service boards/entities.
Rookie-of-the-Year is Jon Ferguson of Production Realty. He closed over $1,000,000 in sales his first year in the business, and he has been actively involved with JAAR committees serving on the Standard Forms Committee and the Community Involvement Committee. He also participates in numerous community events such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Jackson, the Hackett Automobile Museum Committee, the Hot Rod Elves, the Mongoose Club Fundraiser for the John George Home. He serves as the Sponsorship Chair of the Jackson Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the President of Aerie #612 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and further serves his community as a Staff Officer in the Us Coast Guard as well as his Officership as a Freemason. He also took initiative to immediately help the Jackson community at the beginning of the pandemic as the Co-Chair of Production Realty’s COVID Lunch Program.
Master REALTOR® is John Rockey of Exit Realty 1st. Rockey has completed all of the requirements for this award for the year 2020 and has been endorsed by at least two REALTOR® colleagues stating that he has a true sense of professionalism and ethical behavior.
Rockey will join an elite REALTOR® group with only ten other past award winners. Ken Bostedor, Fred Hetherwick, Susie Mohlman, Marc Meyer, Annie Hoover, Nora Sharpe-McGee, Kathy Byerly, Chris Rankin, Amy Gilpin, and Kim Gibbs are our previous Master award recipients.
Affiliate Representative of the Year is Jon Cousins of Community Choice Credit Union. He has been an Affiliate member with JAAR since 2002 and has served on the YPN Leadership Committee, the Service Points Task Force, the Membership Services Committee, and been an active YPN member, alone with participating in many JAAR events.
