Dispute Resolution Center of Michigan to host April 29 screening of "Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice" and panel discussion, via Zoom

The Dispute Resolution Center of Michigan will host the film “Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice” on Friday, April 29, from 6:30-8:30pm via Zoom, followed by a panel discussion.

The film focuses on the stories of Michigan Native American lawyers, tribal judges, and their colleagues who work with Native Nations, their citizens and mainstream institutions to achieve Sacred Justice through “the examination of Tribal Sovereignty...Historical Trauma, Violence Against Indian Women...as well as restorative Justice Practices such as Peacemaking and Healing...” 

Panelists include: Audrey Geyer, Executive Director Visions Detroit, and Director and Producer of "Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice"; Chief Judge Joanne Cook, Native American attorney, and Chief Appellate judge of the Michigan Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians; and Chief Judge Allie Greenleaf Maldonado, Native American attorney and Chief Judge of the Little Traverse Bands of Odawa Indians of Harbor Springs.
