Frequently asked questions about bond projects for 2024 & 2025

• What has been happening with the 2023 Bond constructions projects?

Since the summer of 2023 the C-S Team, along with TMP Architecture and Frederick’s Construction have been working on the design, budgeting and competitive bidding of each of the projects.

The actual construction started right after the last day of school in June of 2024.

• Why did construction start at the Jr/Sr High School instead of the Elementary?

Most of the construction included in the bond project is at the elementary school. Of that construction, most of it is outside of the current elementary school building, so the work can be done year-round, and not just during the summer months when students are gone.

Whenever contractors can spread the work throughout the year, instead of just during the ten weeks of summer, the competitive bids tend to be much lower, saving the district tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore, it was financially beneficial to the school and taxpayers, to start at the Jr/Sr High School, and wait until contractors were ready to bid work that would be done after the busy summer months, before requesting competitive bids for the elementary school.

• When will work start at the elementary school?

Construction on the addition to the elementary school and of the new multi-purpose room is scheduled to start in August 2024. The work for the inside of the elementary is
scheduled for the summer of 2025.

The elementary construction is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the 2025 school year.

• Will the elementary school classrooms be air conditioned?

Yes, we are replacing all the classroom unit ventilators and adding air conditioning and MERV 13 Filtration with Bi-Polar Ionization.

• When will the elementary daycare be available?

The Daycare should be open for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

• Will the Elementary School have more room for the GSRP 4-year-old program?

Yes, we will be able to accommodate more GSRP students once the addition has been completed.

• Will there be outside access to the new elementary multi-purpose room?

Yes, there will be a separate entrance for the new multi-purpose room.

• How long will it take to complete all the projects?

The majority of the work is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

• Will all the work inside the Jr/Sr High School be done before the start of the school year?

All the following is scheduled to be completed:

  - Hallway and cafeteria flooring
  - Replacement of the old windows
  - Painting of the hallways and main gym
  - Sound panels in both gyms
  - New greenhouse

The completion of the science labs will depend on the availability of the cabinetry. If the arrival of the cabinets is delayed, we have a plan to temporarily use other classrooms until they are completed.

• Will there be any improvements to the stage sound and lighting in the Jr/Sr HS Cafetorium?

Yes, we are planning on updating the sound and the lighting. We still need to finalize the design and competitive bidding before we can schedule it. More info to follow...

• Why is the baseball field being torn up?

The construction on and near the baseball field is for a few reasons. We are moving the softball field from out back to next to the baseball field so the fields can be in the same area. The baseball field and all the surrounding area will get new fencing. The baseball field’s infield will be updated, along with some minor reshaping of the outfield.

• Why were the dugouts and press box removed?

The addition of the softball field, and installation of a new sidewalk that will extend along the roadside and up the south driveway, for student safety reasons, required the relocation of the press boxes and dugouts.

• Will the baseball and softball fields be completed for the spring 2025 season?

Softball will continue to be played on their current field for the 2025 season. The new field should be ready for the 2026 season.

Baseball will depend on the condition of the new infield. If the infield is not playable, we will not be able to host home games for the 2025 season.

• What work is being done on the football field?

The football stadium is getting new seating on the home field side and new bleachers for the visitors.

The work is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the season.

• When will the work on the wrestling room start?

The work at the Intermediate School has not yet been scheduled. We will begin the design changes and budgeting soon. More details to follow ...

• Did you purchase any buses or vehicles?

Yes, we have replaced two of our oldest buses with two newer buses, and we purchased two new vans, which save us money when transporting smaller groups or individuals.
