Voters in the City of Galesburg will face a 2-mill proposal for road maintenance and improvements in the November 5 General Election.

The millage proposal is for a period of 10 years (2025 through 2034) and if approved, estimated to collect $74,292.47 the first year of the levy.

City of Galesburg Mayor Linda Marble said nearly all of the streets in the city need repaving. She adds if the city receives an infrastructure loan/grant, the city will need funding for any road maintenance and road paving after the infrastructure has been replaced.

In the City Council election, current mayor Linda Marble will be running unopposed for a two-year seat as a non-partisan candidate.

There are three trustee seats open on the City Council, however onlly Roger Frazee and Glen Hawes, will be running unopposed under the Republican ticket for four year terms.

The Council will have to appoint a third trustee after the election if no one runs as a write-in.
