Gov. Whitmer announces staff changes

Jenita Moore has been named deputy director in the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, as well as director of faith-based and community partnerships.

Moore for the past year was director of the Office of Community Engagement in the Executive Office of the Governor. She previously was chief of staff to Sen. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) with previous stints as the Department of State's legislative liaison, senior advisor for policy and legislation at the Department of Insurance and Financial Services, the executive office of former Governor Jennifer Granholm and as legislative director to former Rep. Artina Tinsley Hardman.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Moore's promotion and other hires.

"I am so excited to announce Jenita Moore as Deputy Director for Labor and Economic Opportunity and head of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships, to connect with and make a difference for Michigan's faith communities," Whitmer said in a statement. "After completing one of the most productive legislatures in Michigan history, we still have a whole lot more to do. These new hires and promotions on my team will help us continue to deliver real change for Michiganders and get things done."

Named to replace Moore as director of the Office of Community Engagement was Emily Mellits, the current deputy director.

Mikhail Perkins has been named director of public affairs. He previously was a policy advisor on the Senate Democratic staff.

Kylie Spagnuolo was named office and correspondence assistant for the constituent services division. She previously was operations manager and policy advisor to outgoing House Majority Floor Leader Abraham Aiyash (D-Hamtramck).

Sarah Zoellick, previously finance director to Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II on the Whitmer-Gilchrist political team, was named deputy director of appointments.

Named appointments specialist was Ian Earle. He most recently was a constituent services specialist.
