Straker Bar celebrates history

 In celebration of Black History Month, the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association hosted the 2nd Annual Black Party  on Friday, Feb. 25, at Beans and Cornbread in Southfield.  Donations were taken at the event to support the grassroots, non-profit organization Save Kids of Incarcerated Parents.  S.K.I.P. provides monthly programs to children who have a parent who is or was incarcerated.  Among those enjoying the event were (left to right) Angelique Strong Marks of Behr America Inc., Kimberly Trueheart of S.K.I.P., Solon Phillips of Wayne County Corporation Counsel, Dawn King of S.K.I.P., Dr. Thomas Trueheart, and Lavonda Jackson of Wayne County Corporation Counsel.
