Center announces new executive, board of trustees, advisory board
Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) has elected its new Executive who will serve for two years ending September 2013, Board of Trustees who serve for three years and Advisory Board who serve for two years. They are:
* President C. Michael Malloy is the managing director of a management advisory firm located in Novi. He has extensive experience in finance and insurance.
* Vice-President Pamela Sawhney is a Registered Nurse, and an Attorney. She serves as a volunteer mediator for Oakland Mediation Center for general civil cases, special education, and in the district court program. She serves on the Board of Directors for Spectrum Human Services, Inc. & Affiliated Companies.
* Treasurer Julia M. Castro has more than 20 years of experience in the Automotive Industry where she serves as a finance director. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Oakland University. Castro has served on the OMC board for the past two years.
* Secretary Marie E. Howe's careers have taken her from working as a police officer, Deputy U.S. marshal to retiring as a legislative director in the Michigan Legislature in 2003. She is trained and mediates as a Civil and Domestic Relations mediator and is a mediator coach at OMC and the Lansing Resolution Center.
* A. David Baumhart, III former director of the Michigan Court of Appeals Settlement Program, has been a practicing attorney since 1970. He volunteers for OMC and offers ADR services through ADRAdvantages, PLC. Baumhart is chair of the State Bar of Michigan's ADR Section, Vice-Chair of OCBA's ADR Committee, and serves on the Oakland County Parks & Recreation Commission.
* Retired Judge Stephen C. Cooper is a popular speaker, mediator, arbitrator and court appointed receiver since retiring after 20+years as a trial judge. He's often called to serve as visiting circuit and probate judge. He's the recipient of many honors, partially listed at neutralmediator.com. Cooper previously served as vice president at Oakland Mediation Center.
* Joe Gagnon, well known broadcaster of the Appliance Doctor radio show, has been elected to the board of directors of Oakland Mediation Services. Gagnon brings years of experience in customer relations to OMC and will offer his services to help the many fine volunteers who help mediate the thousands of cases performed each year.
* Robbie Scodellaro is currently enjoying retirement from health care finance and strategic planning after 25 years for a major health care institution. Scodellaro has completed the 40-Hour SCAO Approved Mediator Training and additional specialized training to facilitate and mediate special education and access and visitation matters.
Advisory Board:
* Meg Alli is a shareholder in the national labor and employment law firm of Ogletree Deakins. Having spent the last 25-years defending and counseling management in employment disputes, she strongly supports the mission of OMC.
* Bill Brodhead, who is a retired lawyer and a former member of Congress, served on the OMC board from 1998 to 2010 and as its chair from 2007 to 2009. He is a strong supporter of the mission of OMC and feels honored to serve as an adviser to the organization.
* Jon H. Kingsepp is active in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He has 40 years of experience in litigation in several federal and state courts in the United States and the Caribbean. Kingsepp is a past chair of the Oakland Mediation Center.
Oakland Mediation Center is a private non-profit organization that has served the community since 1989 by providing mediation services for individuals, businesses, courts, schools and agencies; 40-hour Civil, Domestic and Advanced Mediator training as well as conflict resolution, peer mediation, bullying prevention/intervention, and restorative practices in schools.
