Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson recently appointed Daniel Hunter deputy director of the Economic Development & Community Affairs Department effective immediately. The announcement comes after Patterson named Irene Spanos director of Economic Development & Community Affairs.
"Irene and Dan will make a great team to lead our initiatives that embrace the knowledge-based economy," said Patterson. "They are seasoned professionals who know what Oakland County businesses need."
Previously, Hunter was manager of the Planning & Economic Development Division for Oakland County, where he was worked since 1986. He began his career in 1981 as an economic developer for Steuben County, New York. The Philadelphia-native also has worked for the City of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Hunter, 55, has a master's degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree in geography with a minor in economics from West Virginia University.
"I'm enthused about taking on the responsibility of deputy director," Hunter said. "Oakland County is a great place to work with great support from county leadership and staff."
