Business courts focus of Small Business Forum
The State Bar of Michigan's Commercial Litigation Committee and Small Business Forum will present "Business Courts: Past, Present, and Future" on Thursday, March 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbia Center located 201 W. Big Beaver in Troy.
Speaking at the event will be Macomb County Circuit Court Judge John C. Foster, Kent County Circuit Court Judge Christopher P. Yates, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren, and Michael F. Gadola, office of the governor-legal division. Douglas L. Toering of Toering Law Firm PLLC will moderate the forum.
Attendees will hear a report on Macomb County Circuit Court's Specialized Business Docket which was launched November 1, 2011; learn how Kent County Circuit Court launched its own business docket; get insight into what Oakland County Circuit Court has planned; and receive an update what's happening with business court legislation in Lansing.
The registration fee for this event is $25 (including light supper). Judges may attend for free. Deadline for registration is Thursday, March 22. Cancellations must be received at least 72 hours in advance. Register online at http://e.michbar.org.
The Small Business Forum, established by the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan in 2006, specifically caters to business owners, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals who work with closely-held businesses.
Anyone with questions about the Forum or about the Commercial Litigation Committee may contact Doug Toering at (248) 269-2020 or dltoering@toeringlaw.com.
