Residents encouraged to attend 'My Home, My Future' workshop
On Tuesday, Sept. 18, Oakland County Commissioners representing the southeastern quadrant of the county in conjunction with the Oakland County Community & Home Improvement Division have teamed up to educate area residents on how they can retain their homes at the My Home-My Future workshop.
The workshop will be held at the Gerry Kulick Community Center, located at 1201 Livernois in Ferndale beginning at 6 p.m. This free two-hour workshop on home ownership retention will help residents protect their most valuable assets--their homes.
Topics will include Loan Modification programs, Alternatives to Foreclosure, Michigan's Foreclosure Law, Michigan's Hardest Hit Program, How to Get Help When You Need It and Getting Answers to your questions. "The My Home, My Future" foreclosure intervention and prevention workshops have been initiated by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and are supported by the County Board of Commissioners.
Members of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners have been very supportive of this program and many other efforts that help home owners and communities by approving federal funding such as Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Community Development Block Grant, Housing Counseling Grant and Home Investment Partnerships Programs, while also seeking other options to give residents relief. These programs are administered by the Oakland County Community & Home Improvement Division.
Commissioners representing the southeastern quadrant are Commissioners Craig Covey, Gary McGillivray, Mike Bosnic, Marcia Gershenson, Janet Jackson, Dave Potts, Shelley Goodman Taub, Dave Woodward, Nancy Quarles, and Helaine Zack. They encourage county residents to attend the meeting to learn more about county and community organizations that focus on mortgage and financial matters.
