Commissioners announce webcasting of meetings
On Wednesday, Nov. 28, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners evening meeting will be webcast live and streamed in real time.
All full board meetings along with the five-standing committees consisting of the Board of Commissioners' Planning and Building, General Government, Finance, Public Services, and Human Resources meetings will be available for viewing at www.oakgov.com/boc and click on Live Broadcasts. All archived recordings are also available for viewing.
"I am proud of the fact that we have increased government transparency by providing greater access to County Board and Committee Meetings for Oakland County residents. I am also, especially, proud of the fact that we accomplished this endeavor in a unanimous bi-partisan manner, while being fiscally conservative with taxpayers' dollars," stated Vice Chair Chairman Jeff Matis.
Commissioner Gary McGillivray echoed his sentiment by stating, "I'm so happy that we are finally able to provide a more open and honest government by webcasting all of our meetings for Oakland County residents. It was great to see both Democrats and Republicans work together to achieve this major accomplishment."
"I am very pleased to have actively participated on the bi-partisan committee which made it possible for the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' meetings to be televised. Not only will our county government be more transparent, but our county residents will be readily able to access pertinent information on issues affecting them. Cablecasting Government meetings is widely accepted as a means of providing information and growing numbers of citizens are becoming better informed as well as participating in the process," stated Oakland County Commissioner Kathy Crawford.
The Board's bi-partisan webcasting committee consisted of Commissioners Kathy Crawford, Gary McGillivray and Vice Chairman Jeff Matis. These commissioners were instrumental in making webcasting of all meetings a reality.
