Ex-Wayne County employee found guilty in federal case
DETROIT (AP) -- A former Wayne County employee has been convicted in a federal bribery case.
A U.S. District Court jury on Tuesday found Zayd Allebban guilty of two counts of obstructing justice.
The government says the 34-year-old Dearborn resident created a fake document to impede an investigation of county government. According to prosecutors, Allebban tried to conceal that his boss had received tens of thousands of dollars in cash and goods from a vendor.
A sentencing date hasn't been set for Allebban, who faces a maximum of 20 years in prison. The former county technology manager currently is free on bond.
Defense lawyer Haytham Faraj says Allebban has no criminal record. He'll seek probation for his client.
The jury acquitted Allebban of conspiracy and another count of obstruction of justice.
