DETROIT (AP) -- Court records say a former southeast Michigan band instructor and classroom teacher charged in a federal child pornography case fabricated an online identity as a woman to get photos from children.
The Macomb Daily reports 33-year-old Gregory Austin of Macomb County's Chesterfield Township pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Detroit to child pornography charges. He earlier had challenged evidence obtained by police and filed a motion to suppress it in the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 13 following the plea, which was entered last month.
Austin was fired from his job with Fraser Public Schools after being arrested in 2012. Investigators say he had images of children ages 14 to 17 on his cellphone.
