Enrollment at U of M sets another record

ANN ARBOR (AP) -- The University of Michigan says enrollment at its Ann Arbor campus has set a record for the fifth consecutive year. The school announced last week that it has 43,710 students for fall 2013, up 0.7 percent from a year ago. The number of graduate/professional students decreased by 20 to 15,427 and undergraduate enrollment rose by 304, or 1.1 percent, to 28,283. The university says its entering class was 6,225, up 54 students from 2012. It followed about 46,800 applications, up 10 percent. Using new reporting guidelines, the school says underrepresented minority freshmen constitute 10.6 percent of the incoming class. The previous year, underrepresented minorities accounted for 10 percent of the incoming class under post-2010 reporting categories. Published: Tue, Oct 22, 2013
