On Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium in Pontiac, the Oakland County Adult Treatment Court (ATC) celebrated the graduation of several participants at its 37th graduation since its inception.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Joan Young (second from right) was happy to congratulate the 156th through the 159th graduates (left to right) Jesse Collins, Bianca Callarino, Scott Bjerke, and Justin Partyka.
The ATC is a treatment-driven court using alternative legal procedures for non-violent adult felony offenders with a history of drug and/or alcohol abuse or dependence. It recognizes that many offenders with substance use disorders also have co-morbid mental health problems.
The ATC works with the offender to break the cycle of addiction, criminal activity with jail/prison detention and stabilize mental health issues.
