Oakland County Officials gave voice to area youth in the foster care system at the county’s first ever KidSpeak Event on Monday, Feb. 24, at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac.
Among those taking part in the event were (left to right) Robert Thomas, president of Foster Care Alumni of America-Michigan Chapter; Saba Gebrai, program director of Park West Foundation’s Blue Babies; Oakland County Commissioner Jim Runestad; Michele Corey, vice president for programs and interim president and CEO of Michigan’s Children; and attorney Sean Blume.
KidSpeak is a signature event of the Voices for Michigan’s Children. It brought area youth and decision makers together to build better policies and practices for young people in the foster care system and those moving out of the system.
The event was sponsored by the Mitsi and Albert Scaglione of Park West Foundation, Voices for Michigan’s Children, Foster Care Alumni of America-Michigan Chapter, Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative, and the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
