Oakland County Treasurer Meisner selected as one of nation's top pro-growth progressive leaders
Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner was recently selected as one of ten rising leaders from across the country to join the NewDEAL, a national network that is committed to highlighting innovative ideas from state and local elected leaders who are pro-growth progressives.
Governor Martin O'Malley of Maryland and U.S. Senator Mark Begich of Alaska, honorary chairs of the NewDEAL, recognized Meisner's work to revitalize Oakland County towns by encouraging local banks and credit unions to invest in their city centers.
"Senator Begich and I have joined the NewDEAL because we believe we need to look for fresh ideas not just from the top down in Washington, but also from the bottom up, where innovative leaders like Andy Meisner are developing and testing their ideas out on the ground," said O'Malley.
"In communities throughout the country, rising state and local leaders such as Treasurer Meisner are proving that you can be both pro-growth and progressive. The NewDEAL is designed to foster these types of ideas and these types of leaders," said Begich.
"As Oakland County Treasurer, the citizens have given me a sacred responsibility as the guardian of their taxpayer dollars," said Meisner. "I have been, and continue to be, committed to guarding those taxpayers dollars in a way that ensures prudent investment, helps spur economic growth, and fosters the best environment for economic success, in line with our progressive principles."
Meisner is currently featured on the NewDEAL's interactive website at www.NewDEALLeaders.org/ NewDEAL-Leaders/Andy-Meisner.
He joins Flint Mayor Dayne Walling, Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter, State Representative Sam Singh, and State Representative Jim Townsend as the fifth NewDEAL Leader from Michigan.
