Pre-registration is now open for the annual Oakland County Auction which takes place Saturday, May 17, at the county’s Vehicle Operations Building, 1200 N. Telegraph, Building 16 East, in Pontiac. Participants may click-on www.oakgov.com/auction to view some of the items up for bid and to register.
“The unique items on our auction list always generate a lot of buzz,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “There’s a lot of interest in this annual event and lines can get long. We encourage the public to register ahead of time so they can go right into the auction without a wait.”
As always, there also is an assortment of electronics including wide-screen televisions, yard and power tools, outdoor recreation equipment such as a Baja Warrior Mini Bike, and deer blinds.
“The Oakland County Auction really has something for everyone,” said J. David VanderVeen, director of central services. “The variety of items never seems to disappoint.”
The public preview of all auction items will begin Saturday, May 17, at 8 a.m. Those who wish to inspect only the vehicles up for auction may do so Friday, May 16 ,from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The general auction gets under way at 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by the vehicle auction at 11 a.m. Gates close at 3 p.m.
Individuals who are unable to pre-register online may also pre-register on site Friday during vehicle inspection hours. The auction information line is 248-858-1015.
