The Michigan Supreme Court has appointed John F. Van Bolt to be the Interim Grievance Administrator of the Attorney Grievance Commission (AGC). A past president of the National Council of Lawyer Disciplinary Boards, Van Bolt brings more than 30 years of experience in attorney discipline to the AGC. Van Bolt will lead the AGC while the Michigan Supreme Court undertakes a national search for a permanent grievance administrator.
Pursuant to the Michigan Constitution and court rule, the Michigan Supreme Court is responsible for the supervision and discipline of Michigan attorneys. To help fulfill this responsibility, the Attorney Grievance Commission serves as the prosecution arm of the court to investigate complaints and protect the public, the courts, and the legal profession. The Supreme Court appoints the administrator and deputy administrator and entrusts them with management of the Attorney Grievance Commission.
