Clerk announces art contest for high school students
Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Lisa Brown is holding an art contest for Oakland County high school students to design the cover of the 2015 Oakland County Directory.
The theme of this year's contest is "The Importance of Voting." All high school students residing in Oakland County are eligible to enter by submitting an original work of art, in a medium that can be reproduced, for the directory cover and that depicts what voting means to them.
"I'm excited to sponsor this contest for Oakland County's young artists and give them an opportunity to showcase their talent," Brown said. "I'm looking forward to seeing our students' creative works."
The contest is open to all high school students in grades 9-12 who are living in and attending school in Oakland County. This includes public, private and home-school students, who will need permission from a parent or guardian if they're under the age of 18. Each entry must include a short description (up to 300 words) of how the artwork was created, the medium/media used, and the inspiration behind the work.
Entries will be accepted from Jan. 21, 2015, through Feb. 25, 2015, at 4 p.m. ET. Entries may be dropped off in person or mailed to Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown, Directory Cover Contest, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Dept. 415, Pontiac, MI 48321. Entries submitted via email will not be accepted.
The winner will be selected from all eligible entries by March 2, 2015, with the winning artwork featured on the cover of the 2015 Oakland County Directory.
All entries must include a fully completed entry form, which can be downloaded from www.oakgov.com/clerkrod, where a complete list of rules is also available.
