A Public Service Internship Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 4, gave Wayne State University Law School students the opportunity to meet and network with representatives from 24 federal, state, and local public-interest employers.
Participating organizations covered a wide range of practice areas, including criminal law, employment law, health law and immigration law. Wayne Law’s Career Services office hosted the fair.
At the event, representatives of nonprofit organizations and government agencies, as well as Wayne Law’s client clinics, shared information about their work, the constituencies they serve, and opportunities for law students and graduates to get involved.
Organizations represented included the America Civil Liberties Union of Michigan; Detroit Center for Family Advocacy; Detroit Land Bank Authority; Detroit Public Schools Office of General Counsel; Detroit Public Schools Office of Labor Relations; Elder Law and Advocacy Center; Federal Defender Office; Legal Aid and Defender Association; Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission; Michigan Community Resources; Michigan Department of Attorney General; Michigan Department of Civil Rights; Michigan Immigrant Rights Center; Michigan Legal Help; Michigan Legal Services; Michigan Poverty Law Program; National Labor Relations Board; Salvation Army William Booth Legal Aid Clinic; Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice; Third Judicial Circuit Court; U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Michigan; U.S. Office of Special Counsel; Washtenaw County Public Defender Office; Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office; and Wayne County Solution Oriented Domestic Violence Prevention Court.
Also participating were the Free Legal Aid Clinic and Wayne Law’s Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic, Business and Community Law Clinic, Disability Law Clinic, Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic, Patent Procurement Law Clinic, and Transnational Environmental Law Clinic.
