Detroit Lions announce grant for domestic violence prevention

NOVI (AP) - The Detroit Lions announced a $250,000 grant Wednesday night to fund a program aimed at stopping domestic violence.

The Lions are expanding their relationship with HAVEN, Oakland County's center for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence and sexual assault. The grant will fund the "Redefine" program in Oakland and Wayne counties, which is intended to educate high school- and college-aged young men about domestic violence in their communities.

The prevention curriculum includes sessions on gender equity, social justice intersectionality, empathy exercises and building a culture of consent. Lions players and alumni will be incorporated into certain sessions.
