The Wayne County Family Law Bar Association is kicking off its annual summer charity drive that culminates with a Golf Outing and Dinner for Charity on Friday, Sept. 18, at Dearborn Hills Golf Course, 1300 S Telegraph Rd. in Dearborn. This year the named charities are Growth Works and the William Booth Legal Aid Clinic.
Growth Works is a private, non-profit organization serving youth and families in Western Wayne County since 1971. Since its founding, the agency has continued to design innovative programs to meet the needs and challenges of the community. One of their main programs within Family Services is Supervised Parenting and Visitation services where trained
monitors observe court-ordered supervised parenting time.
The William Booth Legal Aid Clinic provides free legal services to people who live at or below national poverty guidelines. They handle mostly family law and landlord/tenant issues.
They do not handle lawsuits. The clinic focuses on Domestic Relations and Family Law, Landlord-Tenant Relations, Employment and Workplace Law, and How to Choose a Lawyer.
The Golf Outing and Dinner for the charities will start with check-in at 12:30 p.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The cost for the golf and dinner is $125/person and $35/person for dinner only. The cost for a golf hole sponsorship is $100. To register, call Audrey Stroia at 734-283-2255.
Contributions to the charity of choice can be mailed directly to the WCFLBA President, Carla Testani, 33900 Schoolcraft Road, Livonia, 48154 on or before Sept. 18. Simply name the charity as recipient.
