ROYAL OAK (AP) — Plans are in the works in Royal Oak for a $100 million project that would include a new city hall, commercial offices, parking structure, police station and park.
The Daily Tribune and The Detroit News report the proposal got largely positive support during discussion about the project on Monday.
Residents listened to developer Ron Boji of Central Park Development Group outline details of the public-private project.
An office building including city hall would be seven stories tall. The park would be built on the site of the current city hall and police station.
Construction could start this year and finish two or three years later.
Officials say the old city hall, built in 1952, has been showing its age. Problems include water lines rupturing, causing damage.
