The Oakland Mediation Center (OMC), a leading mediation and conflict resolution training facility, is inviting legal professionals to their 2016 advanced mediation trainings. OMC offers three different upcoming 8-hour advanced mediation trainings to any individual who wishes to learn and enhance skills to help others resolve their disputes.
The first training is the upcoming “Domestic Violence Screening Training for Mediators” on Thursday, July 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training qualifies as an 8-hour advanced training for those who have already completed the 40-hour Civil Mediation Training or who previously only took the 4-hour Domestic Violence Screening Training as a part of their Domestic Relations Mediator Training. The training cost is $295 and
includes a detailed participant guide, SCAO Domestic Violence Screening Protocol, and certificate of attendance.
Following that training, OMC will offer the 8-hour Advanced Training “Facilitation Skills from Mediations to Meetings.” This training will be delivered on Thursday, Aug. 18, by Zena Zumeta of the Mediation Training & Consultation Institute. In this multi-faceted, SCAO approved training, participants will gain the facilitation skills necessary to run successful mediations and meetings. Participants will receive a copy of the book “Great Meetings! Great Results” by Dee Kelsey and Pam Plum.
For those who want training further down the line there is still another option. November 18 will be OMC’s 8-hour advanced training “Mediator Wisdom: Reflection, Imitation, and Experience” from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both new and seasoned mediators will learn mediator wisdom with this highly reflective and experiential advanced mediator training. This training is appropriate for any mediator regardless of practice focus or mediator style.
“OMC trainings are great for content but also for the excellent techniques modeled by the presenters,” said Bonnie Hanes, OMC executive director. “These trainings are designed to give participants skills they can use immediately to make a lasting impact on our community.”
OMC’s trainings are approved by SCAO and are designed to be highly interactive and skill based. The trainings take place at Oakland Mediation Center in Bloomfield Hills and include continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and course materials. For additional information about these trainings and others, contact the OMC training department at 248-338-4280, ext. 216.
