The Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) will host a free legal seminar, Seniors’ Law Day, on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Costick Senior Center in Farmington Hills.
Seniors’ Law Day is designed to help educate senior members of the community on different areas of law and to assist attendees in finding answers to their legal questions. These sessions will give seniors information on the legal documents they need to protect themselves and their assets and also inform them about the illegal computer scams happening right now in Southeast Michigan.
Attendees will begin their day with a seminar covering Medical and Financial Powers of Attorney with attorney Harley D. Manela from Mall, Malisow, & Cooney PC. They will then choose from four breakout sessions. The sessions include Buying and Selling Your Home and Reverse Mortgages with Lorray S. C. Brown, Michigan Poverty Law Program; Wills and Trusts with Rachel H. Tucker, Joelson Rosenberg P.L.C.; Guardianships and Conservatorships, presented by Chiara F. Mattieson, Prince Law Firm; and Erasing Your Digital Footprint with Mark St. Peter, Computing Source.
Participants will also have an opportunity to talk one-on-one to an attorney and receive brief advice and council during the Ask-a-Lawyer session from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free lunch will be served at noon.
The Costick Senior Center is located at 28600 W. Eleven Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills.
Those interested in attending should register with the Costick Center at 248-473-1800.
This event is sponsored through the generous support of the Oakland County Bar Foundation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization serving the legal needs of Oakland County citizens.
