Firm to host series on FLSA overtime rules

Bodman PLC will host a series of presentations on new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations establishing minimum salary levels for maintaining exempt status which take effect on December 1, 2016.

Under the new regulations, employers must decide who will remain a salaried exempt employee and who must be changed to an hourly status employee eligible for overtime. The stakes are high: labor costs can rise, and the loss of salaried status can be a sensitive subject for current exempt employees. Employers also risk lawsuits alleging failure to pay overtime.

Interested parties are invited to join members of Bodman’s Workplace Law Group for a practical and expedient discussion that will cover the highlights of the new FLSA regulations and address the tasks that need to be completed before December 1 to ensure that each business is in compliance. Attendees will receive a summary and a checklist to aid in the completion of compliance work.

Presentations will take place on the following dates:

• Thursday, Nov. 10, 8 to 9 a.m., Bodman Ann Arbor office, 201 S. Division Street, Suite 400, Ann Arbor.

• Tuesday, Nov. 15, 8 to 9 a.m., Bodman Detroit office, 1901 St. Antoine Street, 6th Floor at Ford Field, Detroit.

• Thursday, Nov. 17, 8 to 9 a.m., Bodman Troy office, 201 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy.

To attend, register by emailing bodmanevents@bodmanlaw.com with names of all registrants, full contact information, and date/location selection by Tuesday, Nov. 8. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required.
