NEW HAVEN, Mich. (AP) - Current and former government officials in suburban Detroit have pleaded guilty to federal bribery conspiracy charges and will be sentenced in June.
U.S. District Judge Robert H. Cleland accepted guilty pleas Monday from New Haven Trustee Christopher Craigmiles and former Trustee Brett Harris.
Both men were charged last month with taking bribes from an undercover FBI agent.
The Detroit News reports a criminal complaint alleges Craigmiles met with an FBI agent and Harris on Aug. 3 in the garage at Harris' home. Prosecutors say Craigmiles accepted $5,000 in FBI funds from the undercover agent in exchange for his vote on a New Haven contract for a company.
