The Book Club of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will discuss “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” by Michelle Alexander on Wednesday, May 3, from 4 to 5 p.m in the Detroit Room of the Levin U.S. Courthouse, 231 West Lafayette in Detroit.
This book is available for purchase at all bookstores, Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. All points of view will be welcomed and respected at the Book Club session.
Featured panelists will include U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood, U.S. District Court Judge Sean Cox, Chief Federal Defender Miriam Siefer, and Acting U.S. Attorney Dan Lemisch. The discussion will be moderated by Andrew S. Doctoroff, co-chair of the Book Club Committee.
The primary goal of the FBA Book Club is to facilitate an informal but elevated dialogue between the bench and the bar. The book club is non-partisan.
This is a free event; however, attendees must register to attend. Register online at www.fbamich.org.
