For the first time in the school’s history, Wayne State University Law School’s Moot Court program is among the top 20 Moot Court programs in the nation.
Each year, the Blakely Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center compiles data on the success of moot court programs for all U.S. law schools. Wayne Law earned the 17th highest point value.
Recent Wayne Law Moot Court successes include:
• Last month, Wayne Law’s team of second-year student Jonathan Demers of Detroit, and third-year students Amy Huang of Farmington Hills and Chris Rambus of Detroit finished as quarterfinalists at the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Demers was honored as a Top 10 Oral Advocate. The team also took home the National Best Brief Award.
• Second-year students Fawzeih Daher of Dearborn and Jacob Simon of Bloomfield Hills won an Outstanding Brief Award at the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition in March.
• In February, third-year students Elaina Bailey of Taylor and Sarah Cravens of Detroit, and second-year students Nicole Pitchford of Royal Oak, Aaron Shuman of Royal Oak and Adam Winnie of Taylor won the U.S. Midwest Regional of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
