Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) invites legal professionals to their last Civil Mediation Training of 2017.
The 5-day State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved General Civil Mediation Training is designed to teach participants the skills necessary to act as mediators in facilitating the resolution of disputes. By the end of the training participants will be able to identify the various conflict management styles and how they can be used in dealing with conflict; define issues, positions, interests, and emotions and explore why they are important in mediation; manage the emotional climate in mediation and manage power imbalances and conditions; and much more.
“OMC has been dedicated to providing quality mediation training for over 25 years,” said Charity Burke, OMC executive director. “Our training is designed to give participants, from all backgrounds, skills they can use immediately to serve and make a lasting impact on our community.”
The training will be held on Tuesdays, Nov. 14, 21, 28, and Dec. 5, 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The cost of training is $1,095. Participants will receive a detailed mediation manual, jump-drive containing reproducible mediation forms, as well as a certificate of attendance. Those completing their training at OMC become eligible for discounts on practical experience opportunities.
OMC’s trainings are approved by SCAO and are designed to be highly interactive and skill based. For more information about this training and others, contact Lindsay Gabbard, mediation, education, and communications coordinator, at 248-338-4280, ext. 214 or lgabbard@mediaton-omc.org.
