Professionalism personified

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law hosted its annual Professionalism in Action event in conjunction with the State Bar of Michigan on January 26. Professionalism in Action emphasizes Detroit Mercy Law’s commitment to incorporate ethics across the curriculum. Prominent judges and lawyers were on hand to discuss the importance of civility and work through a series of ethical and professionalism hypotheticals with all first-year law students in small groups. A networking reception followed the program. Among those participating were (front row, left to right) retired Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Wendy Baxter, Michigan Administrative Law Judge Laura Gibson, U.S. District Magistrate Judge Stephanie Dawkins Davis, Detroit Mercy Law Dean Phyllis Crocker, Katrina Hardy, Jennifer Dukarski, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Mona Majzoub, Michigan Court of Appeals Chief Judge Michael Talbot, and Avis Choulagh; along with (back row, left to right) Joe Vernon, Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Christopher Murray, Mark Wisniewski, Ed Lennon, Eric Straus, Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra, Jordan Paterra, and Dan Dalton.
