Panel to look at 'Tax Issues for Solo and Small Firms,' March 29

The Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct a panel discussion on “Tax Issues for Solo and Small Firms” on Thursday, March 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Western Michigan Cooley Law School, 2630 Featherstone Rd., Room 145, in Auburn Hills.

This program brings together a professor, accountant, and two tax lawyers who will engage in a panel discussion of tax issues particularly relevant to solos and small firms including changes brought about by recent legislation. Speakers include:

• George W. Gregory who practices law in Troy, concentrating on tax law, estate planning, business law, and probate.

• Ryan M. Mardini, a senior tax consultant within the Business Tax Services (BTS) Department of Deloitte Tax, LLP.

• Paul K. Marineau, a licensed attorney in Michigan and Pennsylvania, who has more than 20 years of experience providing international tax planning and structuring services to multinational companies.

• Dan Sheaffer who served as corporate tax counsel for Alticor Corp., in Ada, before joining the WMU-Cooley faculty. At Alticor, Sheaffer had the lead role in tax planning and tax advice for Alticor’s Asian affiliates.
