Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren recently addressed the Legal Assistants Association of Macomb Community College.

Drawing on his experience as a former partner at Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn, Warren discussed mergers and acquisitions, as well as general corporate law. He reviewed the process in general, and how to prepare for a closing in particular. Reflecting his most recent experience, Warren also reviewed the litigation process, including tips on how to avoid critical errors in missing deadlines, drafting affidavits, the unauthorized practice of law, and related matters. In addition, Warren provided an overview on how the practice of law differs depending on its setting, explaining the difference between various areas of practice.

Warren also addressed Patriot Week and his book. Patriot Week spans from 9/11 (the anniversary of the terrorist attacks) to September 17 (the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution – Constitution Day).

“Patriot Week renews the spirit of America by celebrating our founding First Principles, key documents and speeches, founding fathers and other great patriots, and flags from our history,” Warren said.

The commemoration was co-founded by Warren with his then 10-year-old, daughter, Leah. For more information visit www.PatriotWeek.org.

His book, “America’s Survival Guide, How to Stop America’s Impending Suicide by Reclaiming Our First Principles and History,” focuses on the First Principles of Declaration of Independence, the American Revolution, the Constitution, Civil War, Civil Rights Struggles, and suggestions for renewing the spirit of America. A former member of the Michigan State Board of Education, Warren currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cornerstone Education Group as education chair.
