Birmingham attorney Scott Goodwin (left) was joined by his partner Jim Scieszka at last year’s Law Day event as they announced another winner of a free bike. Free prizes, live broadcasts, and carnival atmosphere make this legal aid clinic a family-friendly favorite every year. This year’s Law Day is Saturday, June 9.

On Saturday, June 9, Michigan’s biggest free legal aid clinic rolls out the red carpet on this year’s edition of Goodwin & Scieszka Law Center’s annual pro bono outdoor event.
Law Day 2018 is celebrating 31 consecutive years. Since 1987, it has donated 5,000 free legal consultations and 10,000 free bike helmets.
It’s a family-friendly combo: free legal advice for adults (family law, personal injury, auto accidents, bankruptcy, medical issues, and more); and free carnival fun for the kids (bounce houses, photo booths, live music, face painting, free food, and more). In addition, there will be two radio stations broadcasting live, plus 500 free bike helmets, 1,000 free hot dogs, and a chance to meet Tigers’ mascot “PAWS.”
Founding partner Scott Goodwin says “Some of the area’s top attorneys donate their time to help local families. It’s a great way to give back to our community!” Goodwin is past president of the Michigan Association for Justice. Awards include Lawyer of the Year (2004), Leader of the Law 2016 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, and Top 100 by Super Lawyers.
Law Day take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Goodwin & Scieszka Law Center at 999 Haynes in Birmingham, just south of Maple (15 Mile) and east of Woodward behind Walgreens.
