The Juvenile Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association continued its 2018 Fundamentals of Juvenile Law brown bag lunch lecture series with “Forensic Interviews:?Using a Child’s Testimony During Trial” on Thursday, Aug. 9, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. Taking part in the program were (left to right) Sharri Phillips of Rolland Law Firm PLLC, Marty?Bugbee of Investigative Intelligence Group, clinical and forensic psychology Dr. Steven Miller, and William Hackett of Hackett &?Hackett PC. This seminar provided attorneys with the toolkit they need to defend a client against a child’s forensic interview statements in MCR 3.92 hearings. The speakers discussed how to find an expert and then elicit effective expert testimony, steps to take if the child recants on the stand in a parallel proceeding, and the forensic interview protocol.
