The Oakland County Bar Association will present a Juvenile Advocacy Training on Friday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills.
This training will provide basic information on fulfilling the requirements of attorney appointments through the Oakland County juvenile courts.
Topics of discussion will include:
- Representing parents and children in child protective proceedings.
- Pretrial procedures.
- Pleas, trials and dispositions, review hearings and permanency planning hearings.
- The role of the Guardian Ad Litem in child protection proceedings.
- Juvenile delinquency proceedings.
- The business side of juvenile court.
- A Juvenile Probation Officer's view of the process.
- "Know Your Judge" (this session will not be taped).
Pre-registration fees (including reference materials, lights snacks and beverages) are $95 for OCBA members, $65 for OCBA new lawyers (75866 ), and $140 for all non-members. Cost at the door is $120 for OCBA members, $85 for OCBA new lawyers (P77000 or above), and $175 for all non-members.
