The Oakland County Bar Association will present “The New Arraignment Proceedings under MIDC” on Friday, Feb. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills.
The new Michigan Indigent Defense Commission standards mandate continual representation by counsel at every court appearance throughout an indigent defendant’s case, including arraignment. Attendees will learn about Oakland County’s Circuit and district court plan to fulfill these mandates. Topics of discussion will include:
• Oakland County’s plan to enforce approved and proposed standards, and how it will affect appointed counsel practice.
• An overview of the jail and procedures in place once defendants arrive.
• Differences in arraignment procedures before and after MIDC.
• Access to pre-trial services.

This seminar is free to attorneys on the criminal appointment list and will be worth two CLE credits.
