TROY (AP) - Business expansions including the establishment of a Chinese manufacturer's facility in suburban Detroit are getting support from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
The Michigan Economic Development Corp. on Wednesday announced that three planed business expansions and two community improvement projects are expected to generate $17.7 million in private investment and create more than 170 jobs.
The projects include one from Wellmei. A subsidiary of the Chinese company that provides molds and parts for auto companies and several other industries plans to establish a manufacturing site in Troy. It's getting a $355,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
In the Flint area, Rassini Brakes plans to expand its Mount Morris Township facility. Also, Stone Fox Ventures plans to relocate part of its manufacturing to the western Michigan city of Wyoming.
