Program will look into how to 'Become a Bias Disruptor'

The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present “Become a Bias Disruptor” on Tuesday, May 28, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Detroit Room at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.

Recent research reveals that everyone has unconscious biases. When we interact with someone who we know little about, our unconscious biases tend to fill in the unknowns. Sometimes that's fine, sometimes it isn't. The good news is that we can become conscious of these implicit biases and learn how to disrupt them.

Helping to get started down that path are the authors of “Enhancing Justice: Reducing Bias,” U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Bernice Donald, Sixth Circuit, and University of New Hampshire School of Law Professor Sarah Redfield at the May 28 program.
