During May for National Foster Care and Adoption Month, Oakland County 46th District Court Judge Debra Nance (left) hosted a traveling photo display of children, sponsored by an organization called ART&Soul Dreams. The organization is designed to raise awareness and increase the rate of adoption for children in the Michigan foster care and adoption system. The children featured in the display are all from Oakland County. The display was set by the photographer, Melissa Parks (right) of ART&Soul Dreams who visited the court in Southfield with her colleagues on Thursday, May 23. “Unfortunately, I see young people in my court that have aged out of the foster care system without find a loving home,” Nance said. “Sometimes these kids find their way into the criminal justice system due to the lack of guidance and family support. Therefore, I offered to help.”
